Recently, a highly popular GitHub repository — ChinaTextbook — has compiled PDF files of textbooks for all educational stages in China, from primary school, junior high school, senior high school to college. Those in need can download them directly.

This is a remarkable project. In the author’s project description, the reasons for creating ChinaTextbook are mentioned:

Although domestic educational websites have provided free resources, the access to information for the majority of ordinary people is still limited. Some people take advantage of this situation and sell these resources with private watermarks on Taobao. To address this issue, I plan to centralize and open-source these resources to promote the popularization of compulsory education and eliminate educational poverty between regions.

Another most important reason is that overseas Chinese hope to enable their children to continue to understand domestic education.

This is great love.

For such a project, we must support and share it. Only when more people know about and utilize the resources of this project can the author’s vision for creating this project be better realized.

China’s “Nine-Year Compulsory Education” policy provides free basic education for all citizens, significantly enhancing the educational attainment of the Chinese people. Meanwhile, China continues to strive to digitize more educational resources, including offering free textbook downloads and free access to video recordings of open courses at all educational stages, in order to ensure that citizens have more equitable access to education.

Education is a right that everyone possesses. Let’s protect this right together.
