Last updated: October 6, 2026 — Figures below were checked against Amazon’s official offer page on this date.
The national average for regular gas hit $4.48 a gallon on September 24, 2026, the highest AAA has recorded for that point in the year. Amazon Prime members can take 20 cents off that per gallon every Friday for the next four months. Fuel Up Fridays runs from October 2, 2026 through January 29, 2027 at bp, Amoco, and participating ampm and Thorntons locations — 18 Fridays in total.
Not sure Prime is worth the membership fee yet? Our Amazon Prime for Young Adults guide covers the half-price tier, and Prime Big Deal Days 2026 covers what to buy during the sale itself. This one is the perk that pays for the membership on its own.
How the 20¢ discount stacks up
The savings come from three pieces, and Amazon’s offer page is explicit about how they combine:
- 5¢ — earnify’s baseline discount, applied automatically to any free account
- 5¢ — the Prime member bonus, added once your Amazon account is linked
- 10¢ — the Friday promotional bonus, valid October 2, 2026 – January 29, 2027
That totals 20¢ per gallon during the promotion. When the promotional period ends on January 29, 2027, the Friday bonus drops off and Prime members keep a standing 10¢ per gallon discount at the same stations — Amazon and earnify each contribute 5¢.
Two things worth knowing before you fill up:
- Without a linked Prime membership, earnify’s 5¢ baseline still applies on its own.
- Cancelling your Prime membership terminates the offer immediately.
Where you can use it
More than 7,500 stations nationwide:
- bp
- Amoco
- Participating ampm locations
- Participating Thorntons locations
bp’s earnify app has a store locator, though you don’t need it to redeem the discount.
How to activate it (do this once)
- Have an active Amazon Prime membership. Not a member yet? Start a free 30-day trial.
- Go to Amazon’s Fuel Savings page and link your Amazon account to a free earnify account, or link the one you already have.
- That’s it. The setup carries over week to week — there’s nothing to re-activate every Friday.
The offer is for active Prime members in the U.S. only, and it has to be set up through that activation page. Linking your accounts also means Amazon shares your Prime status, name, and email with bp so the discount can work.
How to redeem at the pump
- Enter the phone number tied to your earnify account at the pump, or
- Select the station and pump in the earnify app, or
- Use a payment method linked in your earnify wallet
The app itself is optional — the phone number at the pump is enough.
The fine print
- Fridays only, one discounted fuel transaction per Friday, capped at 35 gallons. All fuel grades are eligible.
- The discount applies automatically once your accounts are linked. Still worth glancing at the per-gallon price on the pump display before you fill.
- If something goes wrong with the fuel discount itself, bp handles that. bp.com/Prime-Support is the place to start; Amazon’s customer support handles everything else about the offer.
- Amazon and bp reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the offer at any time, with or without notice.
Is it actually worth it?
Amazon’s own savings estimate works out to about $67 a year for a typical driver. The fine print is specific about where that number comes from: an average of 675 gallons a year and 21.5 mpg across light-duty economy cars, based on the standing 10¢ discount, with the data sourced from the Department of Transportation. Amazon notes individual savings vary.
A more concrete Friday calculation: a 15-gallon fill at 20¢ off saves $3.00. Over all 18 Fridays that’s $54. If you would have filled up on those Fridays anyway, the promotion is worth $27 more than the standing 10¢ discount would have given you — which is a decent return on a two-minute setup.
If your household runs two cars, Amazon Family members can each get the 20¢ on their own Friday fill, which works out to 40¢ off a gallon combined. Both people need their own earnify account and their own fuel transaction.
For commuters and anyone with holiday travel planned, this is the most useful Prime perk that has nothing to do with shopping.
FAQ
Do I need the earnify app? No. The app helps you find participating stations, but you can redeem with just the phone number at the pump. You do need a free earnify account — that’s where the discount lives.
Does it work on premium gas? Yes, all fuel grades are eligible.
What happens after January 29, 2027? The extra 10¢ Friday bonus ends. Prime members keep saving 10¢ per gallon at participating stations, as long as their accounts stay linked.
Can I use it more than once on a Friday? No — one discounted transaction per Friday, up to 35 gallons.
Does cancelling Prime kill the discount? Yes, immediately. The 5¢ earnify baseline continues on its own.
