When the night gets cooler, I’d like to go to bed after taking a warm bath. And I would prefer to do some work on my laptop, rather than just scrolling through my phone to kill time.

I’ve been using many laptops, and I found not all of them are suitable for using in bed. The Apple Silicon MacBook Air is the best one for this use case.

Here’s why:

  1. Fanless Design: M-series MacBook Air models use a fanless design, which helps prevent lint and dust from being sucked in and clogging the ventilation when used on a bed.
  2. Battery Life: It has a longer battery life than other models, which means you can use it for longer periods of time without needing to charge it. Even though you have to charge it, its charger is small and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. If you are using a high-power mobile phone fast-charging charger, you can even share it directly without the need for an additional charger.
  3. Low Heat Output: The Apple Silicon MacBook Air runs cool enough that you can sit cross-legged with it on your lap, or even put it straight on a blanket, without having to lift it occasionally to cool your legs.
  4. Lightweight: Its lightweight, slim design makes it easy to use on your lap without feeling like a burden. In contrast, gaming laptops I’ve used in bed before were so heavy that my legs went numb more times than I can count.
  5. Excellent Touchpad: This is the advantage of all MacBooks. Can you imagine using a mouse on your bed? The excellent touchpad experience makes it possible to use in bed.

What does mobile productivity really mean? To me, it’s the ability to pull a laptop out of your bag and get to work instantly, no matter where you are—on a bed, on a couch, or on a train. Right now, in my opinion, only the Apple Silicon MacBook Air truly delivers on that promise.
